Corsets and Basques

Corsets and Basques are one of the most popular items in female lingerie, and it is not surprising as they have the unrivalled ability to combine sexual predatory with class and sophistication. They present the female form in a traditionally attractive manner, accentuating the breasts and bearing in at the thighs, but leave enough to the imagination as to not compromise dignity.

In practicality a corset is garment that tightens is certain areas of the upper body to shape the female figure into what is considered the ideal shape. This is half of the familiar hour-glass image that is so sought after. It squeezes the lower torso and lifts the bosoms, rendering them pert and large in appearance. The garment was popularised during the French revolution by early fashion guru Marie Antoinette. The style drifted out of the public domain but has reappeared recently in the wave of a return to retro trends.

Corsets and Basques are predominantly worn as they are a very aesthetically pleasing. They are sexy and alluring but that is not the essence of the piece, they are also very fashionable and look pleasing to both the woman wearing it and the lucky person viewing it. It also gives the appearance of a shapely bust (even if there is not one to speak of) and a slim configuration.  Corsets and Basques have come a long way from French Queens having to be sewn into them. They are now treated in a much more modern and revealing fashion.
